More accurate power ratings

Your Kawasaki engine is now power-rated to a tighter, automotive-caliber spec: SAE J2723. It’s a more precise way to rate the horsepower you’ve always had. Your engine has not changed. The output has not changed. Only the rating system has changed – for the better. It confirms that the horsepower number you see advertised represents accurate gross horsepower.

Full power that’s TÜV Rheinland Group verified

To ensure accuracy, Critical Power horsepower testing is witnessed and verified by TÜV Rheinland Group, the global testing agency. Test results are certified by SAE International, worldwide engine standards authority. Finally, power ratings are set according to J2723, one of the strictest standards in the industry.

Result: Critical Power engines deliver at least 98% of rated horsepower – all the power you expect from the engines you trust. That more than just horsepower. It’s tested and proven performance you can count on for your toughest jobs. That’s what makes it a Critical Power engine. And only Kawasaki Engines offer it.

Why change the standard?

The horsepower rating method used by many turf engines permits wide tolerances. We've moved to the strict, precise SAE J1995 test standard, rated to SAE J2723 with automotive-tight tolerances. It better represents Kawasaki's advanced engine and manufacturing technologies. It provides a more accurate horsepower rating. It gives you even more confidence in your engine.
